Taking a Stand

Taking a Stand against the images in the dwelling place of the Lord. In Daniel chapter three we come to quickly find out it’s about three hebrew boys in the fiery furnace. They stood for God and His Holiness despite what the king demanded. There is another, like this king, has demanded us christians to bow down to his image and his ways. You see multitudes heeding to his every command but may I suggest that we take a Stand for the one true King. May I suggest that we dont bow down or give into the ruler of darkness.

In Daniel 3:1 it mentions that king Nebuchadnezar set up an image In the plain of Dura. The hebrew translation of this name “Dura” is dwelling. As I looked up where this “dwelling” could be elsewhere, I found that in the eighty fourth chapter of psalm, there is a scripture in verse ten that says, (KJV) For a day in the courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of the wicked.

This very verse is the same as what Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego done. Who’s to say when they stood that day in the courts of the Lord, they were reminded of this verse. Whos to say that they were reminded of the stands taken from multitudes of prophets and great men of God before them. They knew their God was The King of kings and Lord of lords. They knew that if God could part the waters, then this too he would make a way. They knew the reality of their God and the falsehood of this image.

How many times has Satan tried to set up kingdom in the courts that are reserved for our God. How many times has he tried to convince us of things that was truly his way of trying to get us to bow down to his ways. The Israelites were chosen people of God but they forgot the authority they carried because of God. When the three hebrew boys stood for the one true King, God delivered once again. Nebuchadnezar was angry so he decided, ” You know what? They didn’t want to bow down to my image, I’m going to make it seven times hotter than it is just to destroy them.”

What the king didn’t know was, when Gods people stay faithful and don’t bow to other gods, He sends a Savior every time to loose the chains and bring them out of the fire with all authority and even makes sure that not even a hair on his children’s heads are singed and not even a smell of hells fire can be found anywhere upon their body.

What a Savior we have! When the enemy comes seeking to kill, steal, and destroy us, we as Gods chosen and Royal Priesthood says, “No Satan! I am not bowing down like a coward to your images anymore!” Jesus our Savior comes in with the authority of all and says, “I’ll take you through the fire again.” As the Jason Crabb song goes, “If I trust the hand of God, He’ll shield the flame again and again.”

The enemy says give in, but God says if you stand even in the fire you’ll come out stronger and more pure than what you was before you went in. Don’t let Satan set up images in God’s dwelling places trying to convince us that we need to bow down to his empty hell fire threats. Our mind, heart, and soul is not for him to dwell in, it’s the plave of the Lord’s.

Going Deeper with God

These past couple of months has been spent with searching. Searching for what God wants for my life and how to go deeper with Him. Sometimes God shows us our ending so that we can grasp ahold of hope and have a desire for more. A couple months ago God put me on a journey of who am I? In finding who I am called to be, I needed to find out who God was. God sparked a desire in my heart of learning who the men and women in the bible was and what their purpose was.

All these names in the old Testament are pillars that we can look back on and say, “thats how I can obtain paitence” by looking at Jobs life. David was a man after God’s own heart. Often times we say, man I wish I could be as wise as solomon or a prayer warrior like Hannah. I’m sure weve all said I want to be like so and so and go on to explain how Elisha had a double portion or Elijah had power from God.

God said being like so and so is great, but why not be like Samson too, who had abundance of strength. Isaiah who truly understood who God was and the soverinty of our God. Why not understand these things too. Recognize that everyone in the bible means something for a reason. Moses was a leader but Joshua who came after him followed God. Joseph waited for several years for his dream to come to pass. These people as a whole show many traits that we as God’s people need to acquire.

I had made a kind of wishful statement to God and a couple other people. I said ” if I could acquire everything that every person in the bible ever had, I would take it in a heart beat.” Not knowing that God had a plan, not even realizing that those very thoughts and true heart desire was going to lead me to who I am today.

With that heart felt desire boiling in my soul God spoke to me and said ” Why cant you have everything that they had? Why can’t you be like Jesus?” It stumped me for a moment.. What is being like Jesus have anything to do with being like the old prophets? It has EVERYTHING to do with being like them!! Though Solomon is wise, so is Jesus! Though job is patient, so is Jesus. Though Noah is obedient, my Lord Jesus is too. Though david was a man after God’s own heart, yes I can say my Lord Jesus Christ is truly right after Gods own heart!

At that moment God had revealed something to me that truly was the most humbling, exciting, and mind blowing thing God had ever revealed to me! In finding out who I needed to be (Christ-like) he showed me who he was and is and is forever more! He is the Alpha and Omega. The Beginning and the End. He reigns with all authority and is every righteous man combined into one body.

I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS!
